Meet Sherry
Hi, I’m Sherry Nelsen — a Sunshine Coast wedding photographer and elopement specialist, born and raised on the coast that has been my home my entire life. I know these beaches, forests, lakes, and backroads intimately, and for over 15 years I’ve been photographing weddings, elopements, intimate ceremonies, and surprise proposals throughout the Sunshine Coast and beyond.
I believe your wedding day (or elopement, or proposal) should feel natural — not staged, rushed, or overdone. My role goes far beyond taking photos. I help guide the day, keep things calm, and step in when needed so you can relax and be present. You don’t need to know how to pose or what to do — I’ll take care of that.
I’m most inspired by the outdoors and the quiet, meaningful moments that happen in between. When I’m not photographing love stories, you’ll find me on my farm with my horses, barrel racing (all over BC), hiking forest trails, boating, or hiking along the coast. Nature grounds me, and it’s a big part of why my work feels honest, relaxed, and timeless.
Before photography became my full-time career, I worked as a personal trainer. That experience taught me how people move, how to gently direct without forcing anything, and how to help clients feel comfortable in front of the camera. Combined with my lifelong knowledge of the Sunshine Coast, it means I know where to take you for beautiful light, natural settings, and locations that feel personal — not overdone.
Life has shaped me in many ways, including the loss of my husband after 37 years together. That experience deepened my empathy and appreciation for capturing what truly matters — the people, the connection, and the moments you’ll want to remember long after the day has passed.
Above all, I care deeply about the people I work with. I’m calm, intuitive, and easy to be around — the kind of photographer who feels more like a steady presence than a vendor. By the end of your day, it won’t feel like we just worked together… it will feel like we shared something meaningful.

My Travel Dates

While the Sunshine Coast is where I live, grew up, and know intimately, I also love to travel for elopements, intimate weddings, proposals, and adventure sessions throughout British Columbia and beyond.
I’ll be spending a lot of time this spring and summer in the Okanagan, and I travel throughout BC often — from forested lakeshores to mountain peaks and everything in between. I don’t have international dates set yet, but I’m always open to travel the world at a moment’s notice.
