Good planning and preparation is everything in a proposal! Even if the plans go haywire I work hard so a proposal story that I’m photographing usually ends up being perfect in the end! Such was the case with Leah and Stefan and their Rockwater Secret Cove Resort proposal in Sechelt, BC.

Stefan picked an absolutely stunning area of the Sunshine Coast for his and Leah’s Proposal Story!

Glamping Anyone?

Rockwater is the perfect romantic seaside getaway for couples. Nestled right on the shoreline, the resort is surrounded by thick arbutus trees (broad-leafed evergreens) on three sides. It is lined with boardwalks and trails for exploring—and opens out into a stunning view of the ocean. Visitors can also stay in the main resort, or in glamping tents spread out on the grounds. They are uniquely captivating Tent houses situated along the rocks of the cove. The shoreline has easy access for kayaks, boaters, and foot traffic and is made up of many secluded points and hidden mini-coves. Privacy is ensured for anyone wishing to set up a romantic surprise proposal story or to just spread out a blanket and enjoy a picnic and wine!

Stefan and Leah live on the mainland, so when he contacted me about photographing his proposal at Rockwater, I was thrilled to help him! We worked together to plan it on a weekend they were going to be camping on the coast. Stefan and I did some back and forthing via email of the area to choose a perfect spot. We chatted about where he needed to get her and how to get her there when the light would be best. Once that was all set up, we made a plan to get her all dressed up (for a romantic dinner) and then to take a “casual stroll” around the resort.

We had Plan B in place!

BUT! They finished dinner too early and he had to stall her because the light wasn’t great yet! A little panicked when he texted me, I sent the two of them on a bit of a sightseeing tour to our local historic Halfmoon Bay Pier. They killed an hour of time until the golden hour set in. THIS is why proposal plans should always have a Plan B in place! Good planning works!

Once the light started to sink down a bit, he knew it was time for us to photograph his proposal! He confidently led Leah to a large heart made of rose petals (supplied by Gibsons Florist) and candle lanterns that I had set up for them! She was COMPLETELY blown away and had NO idea what he was up to! The entire moment was magical for the both of them. Of course, she said yes and then we spent some time walking around taking some engagement shots too.

One of the best things about Proposal Photography is that we capture the actual proposal. But we also will have time to get some really amazing engagement shots at the same session!

I’m so thrilled for these two! They are obviously ridiculously in love and are so ready to spend their lives together!
